Thông cáo do Bộ Ngoại Giao Hoa Kỳ phát đi cho hay: "Việc thúc đẩy nhân quyền là phần quan trọng trong chính sách đối ngoại của Hoa Kỳ và là khía cạnh chủ chốt trong cuộc đối thoại liên quan đến chiến lược hợp tác toàn diện Việt - Mỹ".
Hôm 23/5, trả lời BBC từ Hà Nội, nhà báo Phạm Thành nói: "Tôi không tin là Hà Nội thực lòng muốn đối thoại về nhân quyền mà chỉ muốn tìm cách che đậy bộ mặt phi dân chủ của họ thôi."
Ông Thomas J. Reese, S.J., Chủ tịch Ủy ban Tự do Tôn giáo Quốc tế Hoa Kỳ (USCIRF) bình luận với BBC: "Đối thoại Nhân quyền Hoa Kỳ - Việt Nam là một trong những công cụ song phương nhằm đảm bảo rằng các quyền như tự do tôn giáo được coi trọng.“

Following the Roman conquest of Britain in the 1st century, General Agricola ordered the construction of a fort named Mamucium in the year 79 to ensure that Roman interests in Deva Victrix (Chester) and Eboracum (York) were protected from the Brigantes.[15]Central Manchester has been permanently settled since this time.[16] A stabilised fragment of foundations of the final version of the Roman fort is visible in Castlefield. The Roman habitation of Manchester probably ended around the 3rd century; its civilian settlement appears to have been abandoned by the mid-3rd century, although the fort may have supported a small garrison until the late 3rd or early 4th century.[
Thomas de la Warre, lord of the manor, founded and constructed a collegiate church for the parish in 1421.
